Hi, my name is Ryan Cannon. Thank you for visiting my personal profile page. This is a casual space where I share a bit about my life outside of work. If you are interested in my professional background, you can find that on LinkedIn.
I was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1976. When I was six months old, my parents moved to Knoxville, Tennessee for new opportunities. Growing up in a beautiful East Tennessee college town shaped me in lasting ways. My earliest memories are filled with hot summer days, humid nights, time on the lake, and youth athletics.
As the son of Midwestern baby boomers, family, hard work, and the Golden Rule became the bedrock of my values. My mother was a teacher. My father was an engineer. Both came from humble beginnings. We were not wealthy, but my older sister and I never lacked for what mattered. We were loved. Our parents remain the greatest blessing in our lives.
I am the father of two remarkable young women. They are, and always will be, the most important people in the world to me. Fatherhood has taught me humility, perspective, and what unconditional love truly means.
Since graduating college in 1999, I have called several places home: Atlanta, Detroit, Rochester, the Berkeley Heights, Jupiter, and Frisco. Today, I live in the wonderful community of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Experiencing different cultures, climates, and landscapes has broadened my view of the world and deepened my appreciation for it.
When I am not working, you will likely find me golfing, mountain biking, hiking, running, walking, skiing, traveling, reading, cooking, watching college sports, and occasionally catching up on sleep. I try to make the most of each day.
I appreciate Johnny Cash, Adele, Nirvana, David Bowie, Rush, James Brown, Beethoven, both new and old films, red wine, a good cigar, Frank Lloyd Wright, Dostoevsky, and thoughtful podcasts. I am continually amazed by our capacity as human beings to create and experience art.
I believe the best things in life come from serving others. Pouring heart and soul into work that matters brings a deep sense of fulfillment.
I am fortunate to share my life with an extraordinary partner. She is my person, and that is the one thing I am certain of.
Together, we look forward to the chapters ahead while appreciating the pages as they are written.
Thank you again for stopping by. I hope our paths cross again.
Regards,
Ryan
